Information regarding the public military pensions

In order to enforce the provisions of Art. 60 of Law no. 223/2015 on public military pensions with its subsequent amendments and additions, as well as of Art. II (3) of Law no. 152/June 27, 2017 for the approval of Government Emergency Ordinance no. 99/2016 regarding the remuneration of public sector employees, the prorogation of certain deadlines, as well as a number of fiscal and budgetary measures, the Romanian Intelligence Service’s relevant pension authority is going to adjust all military pensions of the retired employees registered by June 30, 2017.

According to Annex 2 to Order no. 8148 of February 12, 2016 approving the recalculation and adjustment of public military pensions, the following measures shall be taken in order to adjust public military pensions:

“The adjustment of public military pensions stipulated under Art. 60 (1) of Law no. 223/2015 on public military pensions with its subsequent amendments and additions shall be carried out by the relevant pension authorities, typically by default, based on the information in their databases, without any specific instructions to this effect, in line with the provisions of Annex no. 1 to the order and with the legal provisions in force on the date stipulated by law for the adjustment of the pensions.”    

Therefore, the adjustment of military pensions shall be carried out by default after the recalculation process is finalized, in accordance with Art. 109 and 110 of Law no. 223/2015, and the beneficiaries of such military pensions are not expected to submit an application in this respect.
