Release of the ''Pope Francis I visit 2019'' National Operational Command
19 March 2019

In the context of the visit by His Holiness Pope Francis I to Romania, the "Pope Francis I visit - 2019" National Operational Command was established at the command level of the institutions belonging to the National Defense, Public Order and National Security System - MApN (Ministry of National Defense), MAI (Ministry of Internal Affairs), SRI (Romanian Intelligence Service), SIE (Foreign Intelligence Service), STS (Special Telecommunication Service) and SPP (Guard and Protection Service).

Each institution, within the limits of its legal competence, will establish and adapt the necessary security measures, so as to allow regular daily activities to be carried out and without imposing any particular restrictions.

His Holiness will be in Romania from May 31 to June 2, 2019 and will visit the cities of Bucharest, Iași, Blaj and the Sanctuary of Șumuleu Ciuc.

Given the importance of the visit and the large number of participants expected to attend the four events, the National Operational Command organized working sessions both in Bucharest and throughout the country. There have also been several meetings with the local authorities in Iaşi, Alba and Harghita, as well as with representatives of the Orthodox and Catholic Churches.
