''The 100th Anniversary of the Great Union'' Sculpture Contest
04 June 2018

The 100th Anniversary of the Great Union is a national event, celebrated all around the country. The symbolic value of "the other capital city" legitimates the uniqueness of certain celebrations meant to distinctly bear witness to the anniversary of Romanians everywhere.

In the days to come, SRI Alba will host "The 100th Anniversary of the Great Union" sculpture contest, in partnership with "Regina Maria" High School for Music and Belle Arts, Alba Prefecture, Alba County Council, Alba Iulia Mayor' Office, and the County Education Inspectorate.

"Regina Maria" High School for Music and Belle Arts in Alba Iulia was challenged to produce a statue for "The 100th Anniversary of the Great Union", being given total freedom as to the choice of the creative manner on the topic.

Five projects of the high school students will be selected and enter the production stage. In November, the jury presided by artist Mihai Buculei, who sculpted the National Unity Monument in Alba Iulia, will decide on the winning sculpture. That work will remain for the next hundred years on the premises of Alba County Intelligence Directorate, as a symbol of our service's attachment to national values.
