Coordination

The Supreme Council of National Defense (CSAT) organizes and coordinates national defense and security activities.

The Supreme Council of National Defense analyzes and assesses the national security status. It sets the main activity guidelines and intelligence dissemination procedures. The Supreme Council reviews reports and briefings on the implementation of the national security law.

Thus the Supreme Council of National Defense sanctions or issues binding decisions for SRI on:

  • Measures employed to counter threats to national security;
  • The structure, organization, missions, and operational spending;
  • The setting up of cooperation relations between the SRI and similar foreign bodies.
